John William Arundel John served in the RGA no 56785. He was born in Methley but enlisted in Woolwich. He rose to the rank of Fitter Staff Sgt. He was KIA on 19 August 1917 and is remembered at Bard Cottage Cemetery
Charles Beach Was the son of William and Grace of Pontefract Road, Castleford. He enlisted in Leeds, joining the RFA as gunner no 795891. He was died of wounds on 4th of May 1918 and is buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery
George Frederick Bedford George Frederick was the son of George and Mary Bedford of Skinner Lane, Methley.  He served in the KOYLI as no 21493.  He died on 8 July 1915 aged 31 and is remembered at Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery.

George Bickerdyke George William Bickerdike (note variation on surname) was the son of James and Sarah Ann of Bradley Ave., Castleford.  He served in the York and Lancs Regt., no 23360.  He died on 18 May 1917 aged 25 and is remembered on the Arras Memorial along with many other Commonwealth casualties.
Ernest Boulby George was married to Edith and of 3 Apple Yard Houses Methley. He was born in Whitley. Leeds was the place he enlisted into the KOYLI no 13299 but on 27th of March 1918 he was KIA aged 34. He is remembered at Gommecourt British Cemetery
Frank Capstick Was the son of John and Agnes of Pollard Houses, Methley, but he enlisted in Leeds the town of his birth, into the RGA no 66868. He was KIA on 3 July 1918 age 26 and is remembered at Maroeuil British Cemetery

William Duckells William Duckels was the son of Edwin and Mary of Mexbro' Terrace, Whitwood. He was born in Cambleforth and enlisted in Wakefield into the KRRC c/7804, he later was transferred to the MGC as no 9606. He was KIA on 3rd of September 1916 aged 23. He is remembered on the Memorial at Thiepval
Henry Ely Henry was born in Methley but enlisted in nearby Normanton. His regiments include the Yorks LI 29396, the Sherwood Foresters 18344 and the Labour Coy no 16938. He died in France on the 3rd of November 1918 and is buried in St. Andre Communal Cemetery
Tom Farr Thomas enlisted in Castleford to the Kings Own Scottish Borderers no 15223. He was KIA on 25th of September and is remembered on the Memorial at Loos. Thomas left a wife Jennie who lifed at Denison Square, Mickletown, Methley
Albert Frobisher Albert was born in Castleford, lived in Methley but enlisted in Leeds. He joined the Prince of Wale's Own no 15/1786. He died of wounds on 22 of August 1916 aged 30 and is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery
Oxley Frost Oxley Jones Frost was the son of Ebenezer and Ethel who lived at Roundhay Road, Leeds. Oxley enlisted in Pontefract into the KRRC no R/7430. He was KIA age 24 on 15th of March 1917 and is remembered at Dantzig Alley British Cemetery
Alfred Green Alfred was born in Methley but enlisted in nearby Castleford into the Prince of Wale's (North Staff Regt) no 12337. He was KIA on 24th November 1916 and is remembered on the Memorial at Thiepval
Smith Green Served in the RAF as a 2nd Lieut Pilot Officer. He was the son of Joseph and Martha of The Old Grange, Boat Stake, Methley. He died on the 18th of February 1919 aged 28 and is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery

Walter Hill Walter of Mickleton was the son of Fred and Selina of Stocks Hill, Methley. He enlisted in Leeds to the RFA as DVR no 63572. He was died in Salonika age 24 on 25th Oct 1918 and is remembered at Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria
Wilfrid Howson Wilfred was born in Methley but enlisted into the Yorks and Lancs Regt no 22769 in Wakefield. He died of wounds on 6th October 1917 and is buried at Larchwood (Railway Cutting) Cemetery

Valentine O'Dwyer Joined the the Yorks Regt no 11/19161 but was later transferred to the Prince of Wales Own no 64395. He was KIA on 23rd of October 1918 and is remembered on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial
James Parkinson James served in the West Yorkshire Prince of Wales Own Regt., as Pte., 19125.  He was KIA on 27 September 1916 and is remembered on the Theipval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme.  He was probably the son of George Parkinson of Oulton, a local blacksmith.
Walter Pain Walter Pain(e) was the son of Levi and Ellen and wife of Rebecca of Mill Lane, Methley.  he served in the KOYLI as Pte., 46586.  He died on 30 December 1917 aged 30 and is remembered at Potijze Chateau Grounds Cemetery and with over 300 fellow casualties
Reginald Pyrah Was the son of James and Agnes Pyrah of Mid Oxford St, Castleford. He enlisted at Pontefract, joining the RFA as DVR L/18820. He was KIA on 4th of July 1917 age 27 and is buried at Poperinghe New Military Cemetery

Frank Russell poss. the husband of Doris who lived in Holbeck, Leeds. He enlisted at Doncaster into the KOYLI and died of his wounds on 28th of July 1917 aged 25 and is buried at Coxyde Military Cemetery
Albert Ryans The son of Mr & Mrs Mathew Ryand and husband of Elda of Mickletown, Methley. He died aged 24 on the 10th of July 1918 and is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun
Charles Wm Spires The son of C W and M Spires of Station Terr. Methley. He joined the Royal Scots and on 9th of April 1917 lost his life aged 23. He is remembered at Roclincourt Valley Cemetery
George Steele George Steel was the husband of Pheobe Wood (formerly Steel) of Holmfield Cottages, Methley. George was KIA on 25th of September 1915 aged 25 and is remembered at Fosse 7 Military Cemetery, Mazingarbe

Percy Taylor Son of William and Pheobe of 7 Middle Row, Methley Junction. He enlisted in the Black Watch. He was KIA age 20 on 28th of July 1918 and is remembered on the Memorial at Soissons

Ernest Edw. B Tippler Ernest Edward Boon Tippler was the son of Mr T E and Mrs E Tippler of NER Cottages, Methley. He enlisted in the Prince of Wales Own in Pontefract but was KIA on 27 September 1917 aged 21 and is remembered at Tyne Cot Cemetery
Tom Theaker Thomas was the son of Mr & Mrs G Theaker of Denison Sq., Mickletown, Methley.  He served in the Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regt.,) as Pte., 426144.  He died on 7 May 1917 aged 29 and is remembered on the Vimy Memorial to the Canadian Fallen with over 111,000 other casualties.  Near the Memorial is a woodland area and 1 tree is planted for every missing Canadian service man
Harry Veal Son of Thomas and Mary Veal of Otley and husband of Mrs E Veal of Woodend, Methley Park. He enlisted in the RGA and died of wounds on 13 Jun 1918 age 38. He is buried at Aire Communal Cemetery
