Saper C E Binns, Royal Engineers 3.11.1918 Charles Edgar Binns was the son of Charles Henry and Lily Binns. In 1901 the family were living in Bishopgate, Wakefield and Charles was one of 5 children. In 1915 Charles married Edith Lydia Ibbotson in the Dewsbury area and later lived on Wesley St, Ossett. Charles enlisted in Burslem, joining the Corps of Royal Engineers, becoming Spr. 184469. He died at Home (UK) on 3 November 1918 aged 24.
Sapper A M Buckett, Royal Engineers 9.11.1918 Alfred in 1901 was living with his great uncle Wilson elders, a retired Inn Keeper at 4 Victoria Square, Ruswarp, Whitby and was just 12 years old. He later lived in Ossett and enlisted into the Corps of Royal Engineers in Leeds where he became Spr 480594. He also died at Home (UK) on the 9 November 1918
Gunner J Frudd, Royal Garrison Artillery 14.7.1918 James Frudd was born in Ossett in 1868, the son of Alfred and Rachel. Alfred and his family lived at Low Common Ossett cum Gawthorpe and he was employed as a coal miner. By the September ¼ of 1889 James had married Eliza Ann Jackson in Dewsbury and they set up home in Ossett. By the time of the 1901 census James and his family were living at George St, Healey Rd, Ossett and he was a Deputy in a coal mine. James enlisted at Pontefract, joining the RGA as Gnr 286997. He died at Home (UK) on 14 July 1918 aged 51
Sapper J Mitchell, Royal Engineers 27.11.1918 Joshua was the son of Arthur and Susannah who in 1901 were living at 20 Church Street, Ossett. Arthur was a rag merchant. Joshua was born in Ossett and enlisted in nearby Dewsbury where he joined the RE's as Spr 145053. He died of wounds at Home (UK) on 27 November 1916 aged 20
Aircraftman 2nd Cl. W Smith, Royal Air Force 22.10.1942 Willie was the son of Harry and Mary and husband to Ella. He joined the RAFVR and became Aircraftsman 2nd Class, 1624931. He died on 22 October 1942 aged 27
Aircraftman 2nd Cl. J Thompson, Royal Air Force 9.7.1943 Jack was the son of George and Edith who enlisted into the RAFVR as Aircraftsman 2nd Class, 1325417. He died on 9 July 1943 aged 23
Serjeant E Wakefield, Coldstream Guards 12.9.1940 Ernest was the son of George and Rebecca and husband to Hildred who lived in Lupset. He enlisted into the Coldstream Guards, 2654574, he rose to the rank of Serjeant and died at Home (UK) on 12 September 1940 aged 29

 

The men that worked for England they have their graves at home and bees and birds of England above the cross can roam.
