St Catharine's War Memorial

The war memorial was damaged in a fire and then broken in an accident

St Catharine's War Memorial

The memorial was split in two by the heat from a fire in 1993 which damaged the church. The memorial stone was damaged beyond repair when a lorry drove on site during the clear up operation and the driver used the stone to help level his truck - the stone simply split along the natural fault lines which had been accentuated during the very high temperatures of the devestating fire. Information obtained from the Vicar of St Catharines during a visit in 2006
