About the blog – This is the official blog of Wakefield Family History Sharing – thanks for dropping by!
Wakefield Family History Sharing has been in existence for well over 15 years, and is the primary resource for local history information about Wakefield and the surrounding area. Its sister site, Genealogy Junction covers everywhere else in the United Kingdom with some links to Belgium and France.
Millions of people come to these websites each year to ‘virtually’ visit a war memorial, find out where their ancestors came from, and discover information about local history.
About me – It was my aunt that made me start family history. I wanted to know who her father was. Time seems to have flown by and it is now about 30 years since I first visited the archives to delve into aunties parentage. As well as being interested in my family.
I am also interested in finding out who people are on war memorials or headstone – they are more than just a name carved in stone or moulded in metal, they were a son, a husband, a brother or even a daughter.
