The privately erected plaque commemorates a family home built in the early part of the 1800's. The house became a church of England Home for waifs and strays. In 1893 and 1937 the home had Royal visits but was eventually closed in 1967 to revert to its former purpose, a family home. The house has now been extended to incorporate further dwellings
