The Yorkshire Bank has on its outer wall the plaque to the Public Bakehouse of the Lord of the Manor of Wakefield. Only the Lord of the Manor could have a bread oven and therefore everyone had to make their bread at home and take to the bakehouse for baking and charged for the priveledge !
