Wakefield Family History Sharing
Newsletter January 28 2008 no. 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello to those of you who have been receiving this newsletter for a while and ofcourse, those of you who will be finding, this their first newsletter in their 'inbox'.
Over the past few weeks I have started to go through my 'to do' files and add memorials and headstones etc., that have been gathered on travels but not yet been promoted to the website. I know they are from outside the Wakefield area, and have therefore been housed on www.genealogyjunction.org.uk. I know these out of area bits are welcomed by many from both the UK and abroad as last year the site had over 2.5 million visitors.
As you can see from the list below there are not just War Memorials but also a transcript of Wandsworth and Clapham Union Infirmary for 1881 for both staff and inmates.
Bardsey War Memorial is on the list below but ready to upload, and you see it in the next newsletter, is a photogallery of the memorials on the inside of the church. It is a very nice country church, even though it is close to Leeds, and the churchyard is so beautifully looked after, but not many headstones.
One day last summer I photographed every headstone, both flat and upright in Emley churchyard and that will be up and available soon - I hope those of you with an interest in the area will find if ot use.
If any of you would like anything in particular adding to the main Wakefield site or Genealogyjunction or can add information about a soldier on a war memorial, do please let me know and I will add the details to the relavent casualty.
Enough of my ramblings, please read the list of additions below and I do hope you find something of interest, even if no connection with your family.#
