Charles Gosling C.M.G Brigadier General Charles had been awarded the C.M.G. (Companion of The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael & St. George) during his time of service which was laterly spent on the General Staff. Brig. Gen. Gosling was KIA on 12 April 1917 aged 48 and is remembered at Hervin Farm British Cemetery, St. Laurent-Blangy, approx 3kn north East of Arras.
Alexander Fraser Campbell Maclachlan D.S.O & Bar Order of Karageorge Major (Lieutenant Colonel) Alexander was KIA on 22 March 1918 and is remembered at Savy British Cemetery, 6.5 kilometres west of St Quentin.
Humphrey Francis William Bircham D.S.O Lieutenant Colonel Humphrey was awarded the D.S.O. He was the son of Francis and Edith of Chepstow and the husband of Gladys of South Eaton Place, London. Humphrey died of wounds on 23 July 1916 and is remembered at Corbie Communal Cemetery. The village of Corbie had been used as a medical centre due to its proximity to the 'front'. The CWG cemetery is the final resting place for the officers and men who died of wounds in the 1916 Battle of the Somme.
Charles Slingsby Chaplin Lieutenant Colonel Charles served in the 9th Bn of the KRR. He was the son of Clifford and the husband of Gladys Greenfield, formerly Chaplin, or Erbistock House, Ruabon. He was KIA on 30 July 1915 aged 52 and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial.
Charles William Reginald Duncombe, Earl of Feversham Lieutenant Colonel The Earl of Feversham had served in the Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry and had the KRR as his secondary unit. Charles was the son of William Reginald Duncombe, 1st Earl of Feversham, Viscount Helmsley and husband of Countess of Feversham, later to become Lady Marjorie Beckett of Kirkdale Manor, Nawton, Yorkshire. Charles was KIA pon 15 September 1916 and he is remembered at A.I.F. Burial Ground near Flers. The majority of the men in this CWG cemetery are from the autum of 1916.
Hon. Edward Steuart St. Aubyn Lieutenant Colonel The Hon Edward Stuart St. Aubyn was the son of the 1st Baron St Leven and Lady St. Leven. Edward died on 30 December 1915 and is remembered at the Chatby Memorial, Alexandria.
Hubert Fitzwilliam Brabazon Francis Foljambe Major Hubert, like the other officers on this memorial plaque was educated at Eton and was a Major in the KRR, where he served in the South African War. He was the son of the Right Hon. F J S Foljambe, P.C and Lady Gertrude, being husband to Gladys of Pont Street, London. Hubert was KIA on 14 September 1914 aged 42 and is remembered at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, 66 km east of Paris. the Memorial commemorated nearly 4,000 officers and men of the BEF who died in August, September and early October of 1914 whose final resting place is known only to their God.
Harry Cecil Johnson D.S.O. Bde. Major Harry was the son of Mr R H Johnson and Mrs W Lowe (formerly Johnson) and the husband of Phylis Johnson (nee Barclay). He died of wounds when a PoW on 1st January 1915 aged 37. He is remembered at Porte-de-Paris Cemetery, Cambrai, 32 km south east of Arras.
Morice Julian St Aubyn M.C. Major Morice served in the 7th Bn of the KRR and received the Military Cross. he was the son of Edward and Ada St. Aubyn of 14 Connaught Sq., Hyde Park, London. He was KIA on 22 March 1918 and is remembered at the Pozieres Memorial
Hon John Neville Bigge Captain John was the son of Arthur John Bigge, 1st Baron Stamfordham and Baroness Stamfordham. Arthur being Private Secretary to Queen Victoria and King George V and as result of this lived at St James's Palace. In 1901 John was a boarder at Eton College aged 13and was living at The Timbrells (?). John was only 27 when he was KIA on 15 May 1915 and is temembered at Le Touret Memorial near Bethune.
Cecil Rodolph Blake Captain Cecil served in the 10th Bn of the KRR and was KIA on 4 April 1917 and is remembered on the Memorial at Thiepval
Edmond William Bury Captain Edmond was the son of Henry Entwisle and Angela and husband of Ida Carrick, formerly Bury, of Brunstock, Carlisle. He was KIA on 5 December 1915 and is remembered at Rue-Petellon Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix near Armentieres. There are just over 1,500 casualties commemorated on the site of which 886 are identified.
Augustus Ernest Cathcart Captain Augustus served in the 2nd Bn of the KRR and was the son of The Hon. Augustus M and Mrs Jean M Cathcart of Mowbray House, Ripon. In 1901 Augustus Ernest was not at the family home. Augustus jnr. was KIA on 14 September 1914 aged 39 and is remembered at Paissy Churchyard 27 km east of Soissons. He lied with 5 other soldiers who fell in September 1914. August left a wife, Hilda Reenee, nee Lee who he had married in Kensington in the summer of 1913.
William Lawrence Clinton Captain On the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and in other sources William is known as Walter. He served in the KRR as did the other officers on this memorial and died on 22 November 1918 being remembered at Belgrade New Cemetery and is one of two identified casualties
John Marcus de Paravicini Major John served in the 11th Bn. of the KRR and is remembered on the Cambrai Memorial after being KIA on 30 November 1917
Richard Selby Durnford Captain In 1901 Richard was living at Common Lane (?) Eton as a boarder of the College. He was KIA on 31 July 1915 and is remembered at the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.
Arthur Paul Forster Major Arthur in various sources is seen to be in the MGC. In 1901 Arthur, is living with his parents - Paul and Annie with 3 sisters and 7 servants at the family home at 2 Cromwell Place, Kensington. Arthur died on 25 September 1918 and is remembered at Lapugnoy Military Cemetery, 6km west of Bethune.
Frederick John Lawrie Johnstone M.C. Captain Frederick left Eton in 1914 but by the early part of the war was a member of the KRR. Frederick died of wounds on 29 August 1916 and is remembered at Abbeville Communal Cemetery, approx. 80 km south of Boulogne. Abbeyville had been the HQ of the Commonwealth lines of communication and various hospitals were situated within the area.
Noel Esmond Lee Captain In 1901 Noel was 4 years old and living with his parents - Brig. Gen. Noel and Lilian and sister, Josephine at Heawood Hall, Alderley Edge with 6 servants. Noel left Eton in 1914, became an officer in the KRR. On 24 August 1917 Noel was KIA and is remembered on the Memorial at Tyne Cot. By this time his father had died and his mother was now living at Horlsey House, Tilford, Farnhamn.
William Gerald Martin Captain William was the son of Edward and Alice of Woodcote, Forest Row, Sussexand was KIA aged 27 on 14 January 1917. He is remembered at Combles Communal Cemetery which is 16km south of Bapaume.
John Douglas Henderson Radcliffe Captain

John's parents were Alexander Nelson Radcliffe, solicitor and Isabel Grace, were living at 45 Kensington Square in 1901 with his 3 sisters and one brother plus servants. John, born in 1885, left Eton in 1904. By the time war had broken out John had become a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford and married Mary Augusta Gardinia. John died of wounds on 30 July 1915 aged 30 and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial

Ronald Francis Sherlock Captain In 1901 Ronald was 5 years old and living with his parents Francis G and Annie along with his three younger brothers and servants at 56 The Drive, Hove. He attended Eton, leaving in 1914 amd became an officer in the KRR. Ronald was KIA on 23 July 1916 and is remembered on the Memorial at Thiepval.. On the 1 July 1916 the Commonwealth forces and the French launched an offensive the Germans offered fierce resistance and as a result of this there many Commonwealth casualities over the weeks that followed. Theipval is a memorial to over 72,100 officers and men.
Audley Delves Thursby Captain Audley was the son of Neville and Zoe Thursby. In 1901 his family were living in Harlestone with Honor, Audley's sister and numerous servants. Audley or Arthur as he is known on various sources was KIA on 15 February 1915 and along with over 54,000 other soldiers of all ranks, regiments and nations is remembered on the Memorial at Menin Gate
Hon. Eric Edward Montague John Upton Captain In 1901 Eric was boarding at Eton aged 16 and residing with Henry Larmore (?) Head of House, other boarders and servants. His parents were Henry, 4th Viscount Templetown and Viscountess Templeton, daughter of 10th Earl of Winchelsea and Nottingham. Eric was KIA aged 30 and is remembered at Rue-des-Berceaux Military Cemetery, Richebourt-L'Avoue, near Bethune.
Geoffrey Strafford Wallington Captain Geoffrey was the son of Co. C. D. and Edith Margaret of 41 Portchester Road, Bournmouth. He attended Eton and left in 1915 but by 1917 had joined the KRR as on 19 September 1917 he was KIA and is remembered at Poelcapelle British Cemetery
Evelyn Maxwell Webb Captain Evelyn Maxwell Webb according to the 1901 census was living with his parents, John, a headmaster and Cordelia at Ken Park Road with four siblings. Evelyn attended Wixenford School, later attended Eton College, leaving in 1914. By 1916 he was an officer in the KRR but by 23 July 1916 he had been KIA aged 19 years old and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
Cecil John Talbot Rhys Wingfield Captain In 1901 Cecil was a 2nd Lieut in the KRR aged living with his widowed mother, Edith, sister, together with 18 house servants and living at Barrington Park. In the winter of 1904 cecil had been married at St Georges Hanover Square. Cecil died of wounds on 29 April 1915 and is buried in his local cemetery - St Mary's, Great Barrington
Arthur James Austen-Cartmell Lieutenant IN 1901 Arthur was living with his parents, James and Mary Affleck Austen-Cartmell, his brother and sister and various servants. James was a Barrister and the family lived in Kensington. Arthur had been educated at Eton, leaving in 1912 and then attended Trinity College. On the 1911 census both Arthur and his brother are listed as being school boys at Eton College. He joined the KRR and was KIA on 1 June 1916 aged 23, being remembered at Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez. NOTE : his brother Geoffrey Hugh fought in the HLI was also KIA on the 13 Nov 1916 and is remembered at the Thiepval Memorial - both brothers are remembered on another Eton Memorial
Leslie Arthur Ballance Lieutenant In 1901 Leslie's family were living at Park Lodge, Blackheath - his father Arthur W, his mother Jane Peek and his four sisters + servants. 1901 saw Leslie boarding with 50 other scholars at the home/school of Harcourt and Augusta Showden in Kent. Harcourt being a clergyman and schoolmaster. Leslie later attended Eton and left in 1907. He enlisted into the army in August of 1914 but was KIA on 28 September 1916 aged 27
Maurice Frederick Blake Lieutenant 1901 saw Maurice aged 19 (being born in 1882) and just left Eton (1900), he was living with his parents, Arthur and Isabel, at Danesbury House, Welwyn along with his five sisters and over 20 house and grounds staff. Maurice at that time did not have an occupation, but by 1914 he had joined the KRR as an officer. He was KIA on 14 September 1914 and is remembered at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, 66 km to the east of Paris. The memorial is a lasting testement to nearly 4,000 officers and men of the BEF who died in August, September and early October of 1914 whose final resting place is known only to their God.
Harry Brodrick Chinnery Lieutenant In 1895 Harry had left Eton and joined his father, a dealer on the stock exchange as a clerk. In 1901 he was living with his parents, Walter and Emily and brother Ivan along with his aunt, Amy Nixon (wife of General J E Nixon) and his cousin Adrian along with various indoor and outdoor staff at Hatchford House in Cobham. On the 28 May 1916 Harry was KIA and is remembered at Berles-au-Bois Churchyard approx. 15 km south west of Arras
Charles George Edric Clowes Lieutenant Charles was the son of Major Charles Edward Clowes and husband of Isa. He died of wounds received on 18 February 1915 and is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery, approx 14 km south west of Ypres - very close to the Belgian border. Between the 13 - 18th of February the town was severely bombed and shelled, eventually falling into German hands
Hon. William Alfred Morton Eden Lieutenant William was the eldest son of the 5th Baron Aukland of Lincoln. He left Eton in 1908 and eventually joined the KRR as an officer. He was KIA on 3 March 1915 and is one of over 54,000 remembered at the Menin Gate Memorial
Charles George Edgar Farmer Lieutenant Possibly - Charles George Edgar who was a boarder at the school in 1901 aged 15. By 1916 he was commissioned in the KRR and during the month of August he had been KIA (18th August 1916) being remembered on the Thiepval Memorial
George Glyn Fowler Lieutenant George was the younger son of Captain and Mrs R H Fowler of Rahinston, Enfield and died of wounds aged 19 on 26 September 1915 and is remembered at Lapugnoy Military Cemetery near Bethune
Harold Stewart Gough Lieutenant The son of Col. The Hon. G. H Gough and Hilda of 13 Grosvenor Place, London. Harold attended Eton and left in 1910. He joined the KRR and was KIA aged 21 on 16 June 1916 and remembered at Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery, 5 km west of Ypres.
John Cecil Grahame-Stewart Second Lieutenant John was the son of J Graham Stewart and Helen Louisa Georgina Stewart of the Grove, Exton, Bishop's Waltham. Joh left Eton in 1914 and by 1915 had joined the KRR as an officer, his father by this time had died. On 25 September 1915 John was KIA and is remembered at Dud Corner Cemetery, Loos. He lies with over 600 officers and men and only a matter of meters away from the Loos Memorial, a memorial to over 20,000 men of all ranks who have no known grave.
Victor Norman Erskine Howard Vincent Lieutenant ? Victor left Eton in 1914 after completing his education there. Victor was born in the spring of 1897 and his birth was registered in the St George Hanover Square district of London and Middlesex. As to the parentage of Victor and his military service nothing more can be determined at this time.
Thomas McKenny Hughes Lieutenant In 1901 Thomas was boarding at Eton aged 17 and living with Edward Impey, schoolmaster and his family and other students. Thomas had been born in Cambridge, the son of Prof. T McKenny Hughes and his wife Mary Caroline. He left Eton in 1902 and fought in the KRRC attached to the Royal Flying Corps during The Great War where he was twice mentioned in Despatches until on 5 February 1918 he was KIA aged 34 and lies in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.
Ambrose Constantine Ionides Lieutenant Ambrose was the son of Alexander and Isabella nee Sechiari. Isabella had been born in Marseilles, a British Subject. Alexander had been the Consul General for Greece and born in Surrey. Ambrose had left Eton in 1895 but by 1901 he was living with his widowed mother, two brothers and sister plus domestic staff at 1 Holland Park, Kensington. Ambrose in the autumn of 1911 married Euphrosyne Spartali in Kensington, a similar time of year to when his parents married in the City of London in 1875. Ambrose was KIA aged 37 and is remembered along with over 54,000 officers and men of The Commonwealth who died and have no known resting place.
Richard Arthur Knowles M.C. Lieutenant Son of Arthur and Mildren Clare Knowles of Alvaston Hall, Nantwich ( now a hotel and conference centre). Richard attended Eton and left in 1914 He was commissioned into the KRR and attained the rank of Lieutenant but was KIA on 25 February 1918, he is remembered at Struma Military Cemetery which is 65 kilometres north east of Thessaloniki.
Malcolm Eyton Lawrence Lieutenant Malcolm was the son of the Hon. Henry Arnold Lawrence. He attended Eton and left in 1904. He had joined the KRR but on 10 January 1915 he was KIA and is remembered at Arras Road Cemetery, Roclincourt which is about 6 km north of Arras.
Vintcent Charles Serocold Mellor Lieutenant Vincent left Eton in 1911 and eventually joined the KRR. He died on 21 March 1919 and is remembered at Churchstanton Churchyard, Somerset
Llewellyn Charles Nash Capt. or Lieutenant Llewellyn was the son of Lt. Col. G Nash of 56 Sloan St, London. He attended Eton and left in 1914. He joined the KRR but his rank varies on differant sources from that of Lieutenant to that of Captain. Llewellyn died of wounds aged 20 on 29 September 1915 and is remembered at Lapugnoy Military Cemetery near Bethune.

Charles was the son of Francis and Henrietta of Crown House, Aldwych, London. He left Eton in 1907 and eventually joined the KRR. He was KIA on 13 March 1916 aged 26 and is remembered at Essex Farm Cemetery near Boezinge, Belgium
Cyril Edmund Parker Second Lieutenant Cyril was the son of The Hon. Edmund William and Mrs E Parker and was KIA on 1 January 1915 aged 31. He is remembered on Le Touret Memorial
Jacob Edward Pleydell-Bouverie Lieutenant Jacob was the son of the Hon Duncumbe and Maria Eleanor Pleydell-Bouverie(nee Hulse, dau. of Sir Edward Hulse) who had married in the autumn of 1883 at Marylebone, London. Duncombe died in 1909. His son, Jacob, died on 1 January 1914 aged 27 and is remembered at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery after leaving Eton in 1904..
Francis Seymour Lieutenant Francis left Eton in 1904 and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial after being KIA on 30 July 1915.
Douglas Francis Fairfax Shennan Lieutenant Douglas was the son of David Anderson Shennan and Dolores Margarita of 28 Chesham Place, London. He left Eton in 1911 and attended Trinity College, Cambridge. Douglas was KIA on 8 May 1915 aged 23 and is remembered, along with many who have no known grave on the Menin Gate Memorial
Hon Frederic Sydney Trench Lieutenant Frederick was the son of Frederic Oliver, 3rd Baron Ashtown and Violet Grace of Woodlawn House, Woodlawn, Co. Galway. He was educated in the school and left in 1913 only a short while before he died of wounds aged 21 on 16 November 1916 and is remembered at Mailly Wood Cemetery, Mailly-Maillet close to the town of Albert.
Nigel Frederick Edward Anson M.C. Second Lieutenant Nigel was the son of Henry Anson Horton and Katherine Anson Horton of Catton Hall. In 1901 Henry Anson Horton, his wife Katherine, his two daughters and Nigel aged three,were living at East Close, Christchurch, Hampshire and Henry was occupied as a Colonial Civil Servant. It would only be a few years before Nigel would be attending Eton and a few years later, in 1915 he would be leaving. On 10 October 1917 Nigel was KIA aged 19 and is remembered at the Nieuport Memorial
Anthony Yorke Bailey Second Lieutenant Arthur was the son of Arthur and Helen of Wramplingham Hall, Wymondham. He attended Eton, leaving in 1915. Only a short while later he had joined the KRR and aged 19 years of age was KIA on 27 July 1916 and is remembered at Thiepval.
Ernest Hammond Bentall Second Lieutenant Ernest was the son of Edmund and Maud of The Towers, Heybridge. Ernest was an agricultural engineer and J.P. In 1901 Ernest had three sisters and and the family had over 10 indoor and outdoor staff. Ernest left Eton in 1914 and by the 3 October 1915 had been KIA aged 18. He is remembered at Vermelles British Cemetery near Lens.
James Charles Blyth Second Lieutenant James was the son of Lt. Col. James and Mrs Blyth of Iver Grove, Iver, Buckinghamshire. IN 190, aged four, he was living with his grandparents Charles and Frances Gibb at Sandyford Park. He left Eton in 1914 and eventually joined the KRR. He was KIA aged 20 and is remembered at Highland Cemetery, Roclincourt near Arras.
Andrew Pepys Cockerell Second Lieutenant Andrew was the son of John Pepys Cockerell and Florence who in 1901 were living in Crompton Lodge, Eastbourne with various indoor staff.. John was a Land Agent to the Duke of Devonshire (?). Andrew was educated in the school and left in 1915 only a few short months later, on 15 August 1916 he was KIA aged 19. He is remembered at Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz. By this time his parents were living at Lennox Gardens, Chelsea.
George Llewelyn Davies Second Lieutenant George was the son of Arthur and Sylvia Llewelyn Davies. Sylvia remarried after the death of her husband and Sir J. M. Barrie, Bart. became step father to George. It is also said that he was the model for 'Peter Pan'. After attending Eton, which he left in 1912, he attended Trinity College, Cambridge. He was KIA aged 21 on 15 March 1915 and is remembered at Voormezeele Encloser No. 3, approx. 4 Km to the south west of Ypres.
Charles Scroop Egerton-Green Second Lieutenant Charles was the son of Claude and Helen of Broadmead, Woolton Hill, Newbury. He was KIA aged 20 on 1 July 1916 after leaving Eton in 1914, and is remembered on the Arras Memorial
William Arthur Derrick Eley Second Lieutenant William was living with his family in 1901 at Westfield, Fulford Road, York. His father, William was a Captain in the army but later rose to the rank of Lt. Col. Williams mother was at home looking after him and his one year old sister, Helen. William later attended Eton but in 1916 left - only one short year later he had been KIA aged 19 on 17 February 1917 and is remembered at Regina Trench Cemetery, Grandcourt, by this time his parents were living at Whiteshoots Hill, Bourton-on-the-Water.
Cecil Valdemar Faber Second Lieutenant Cecil was the son of Johan and Emma Faber, who in 1901 were living at Derwent Dene, Shotley. Johan was a provisions importer, while Emma was mother to three young children and cared for the house and staff. He left Eton in 1914 and like so many young men on this memorial tablet had his life taken away too soon. He was only 19 years old when on 30 July 1915 he was KIA and is remembered on The Menin Gate Memorial. His parents by this time now lived at The Links, Worplesdon, Surrey.
Henry Charles Maclean Farmer Second Lieutenant Henry was the son of the Rev. J. E. and Margaret Farmer who in 1915 were living at Yeardsley Cottage, Furness Vale. Henry had attended Eton, leaving in 1911. He joined the KRR and was KIA aged 22 on 10 May 1915 being remembered along with many thousands of others who have no known resting place - the Menin Gate Memorial
John Forster Second Lieutenant John was the son of Mr H M Forster and the Hon Mrs Forster of 41 Hans Place, London. He attended Eton, leaving in 1908. John was KIA aged 21 on 14 September 1914 and is remembered along with nearly 4,000 other officers and men who have no nown grave at the Le Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial 66km east of Paris. The memorial is to those killed in August, September and early October of 1914 who were part of the BEF.
Walter Williams Wynn Godman Second Lieutenant Walter, the son of Joseph and Bertha left Eton in 1913. In 1901 Bertha was a widow living in Chelsea with her youg family and staff at 53 Lowndes Square. 1915 saw Walter in France with other officers of the KRR fighting near Bethune. On 24 January 1915 Walter was KIA and is remembered at Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L'Avoue.
Percival Hambro Second Lieutenant Percival was born in Godalming but in 1901 his father Henry Charles, a merchant banker, his mother Edith and his sister aged one plus staff were living 33 Eaton Sq., in Westminster. He left Eton in 1916 and aged 19 in 1918 his family were now living in The Lodge, Tadworth and by the 23 March of that year Percival had been KIA and is remembered at Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension near Albert, which was designed by Sir Edward Lutyens.
Philip Brydges Henriques Second Lieutenant In 1901 when Philip was 6 years old he lived with his parents Philip Guttery Henriques, a Barrister at Law and Beatrice, his mother, along with Amalie Eberhard his Governess, Walter Williamson the families butler and various other house staff at 33 Grosvenor Place. Philip left Eton in 1912. He was KIA on 24 July 1915 aged 20. He is remembered at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Poperinge along with over 10,000 men including my great uncle and one woman - Nellie Spindler
Thomas Marwood Hext Second Lieutenant Thomas was the son of Lt Col F M and Mrs Hext of Redhayes, Pinhoe, Devon. Thomas was KIA on 29 April 1917 aged only 19 and is remembered at the Memorial at Arras.
George Waldeaf Huntington Second Lieutenant George Waldeaf or Waldeof or Waldorf as it is found in other sources was the son of Thomas Huntington of Norwich, Connecticut. After leaving Eton in 1901 he joined the Ceylon congingent in 1914, also serving at Gallipoli and Egypt. He was KIA on 24 August 1916 aged 32 and is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
Christopher Hal Lawrence Second Lieutenant Christopher was the son of the Hon. Henry A Lawrence who had been born at Lahore, India and Constance. In 1901 Chrisopher was living with his parents but classed as a relative at 6 Harrington Gardens, Kensington. Christopher was KIA on 13 October 1914 aged 20 and is remembered along with other Old Etonians at the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial
Richard William Byrd Levett Second Lieutenant Richard was the son of Captain William Swynnerton Levett and Maud Sophia.The family lived in Milford Lodge in 1901 when William was described as a Landowner and Captain in the army. Richard left Eton in 1915 and by 1917 his family lived in Milford Hall. On the 10 March 1917 Richard was KIA aged 19 and is remembered at the Albert Communal Cemetery Extension, where he rests with 868 officers and men of WW1 and 25 from WW2.
John William Ashley Maude Second Lieutenant John left Eton in 1903 but in 1901 he was living with other boys with Arthur Benson, schoolmaster and Catherine Cox, matron and housekeeper. He was the son of Mr F W Maude, J.P. and Mrs E Maud Maude of Park Place, Englefield Green. John was KIA on 24 April 1915 aged 29 and is remembered at Rue-du-Bacquerot (13th London) Graveyard, Laventie approx 6 kilometres south west of Armentieres.
Charles William Murray Second Lieutenant Charles left Eton in 1914. He was KIA on 25 October 1915 and is remembered along with other Old Etonians on the Menin Gate Memorial
Richmond Fothergill Robinson Second Lieutenant 1901 saw Richmond aged 21 living at 18 Airlie Gardens, Kensington, without his parents but he did have staff. He was the son of Vice-Chancellor W Fothergill Robinson He had left Eton in 1898 and later joined the KRR. Richmond was KIA aged 35 on 30 July 1915 and is remembered along with many other on the Menin Gate Memorial
Hon.Piers Steward St. Aubyn Second Lieutenant Piers had left Eton in 1886 and in 1901 aged 29 was living with his parents Lord and Lady St. Levan at The Castle on St Michaels Mount in Cornwall. John, Lord St Levan gave his occupation in the census of that year as Peer of the United Kingdom and living on own means, while Piers was a County Magistrate. Hugh Amherst, Piers brother in law, who also lived with the family was a Captain in the Royal Guards Reserves. In all on the night of the census in 1901 there were 14 family members and two visitors in the Castle and 22 plus staff. Piers was KIA on 31 October 1914 and is remembered on the Menin Gate Memorial
John Scudamore Second Lieutenant In 1901 John was living with his grandparents Sam and Caroline Bircham at Sutton Beech Hill, Woking. John's parents were Brig. Gen. Charles Philip Scudamore, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., D.L. and Gertrude Caroline who had married in the spring of 1890 at Kensington, in 1915 were living at Yarrowfield, Mayford. John left Eton in 1914 and by 25 of September the following year (1915) he had been KIA and is remembered at Dud Corner Cemetery, Loos.
Richard Willingdon Somers-Smith Second Lieutenant Richard in 1901 was 17 years old and still attending Eton (which he left in 1902), and was living on the High Street, with Raymond Radcliffe - Clerk in Holy Orders and schoolmaster, Mary his wife and other students at the College. Richard was KIA on 30 Jun 1915 and is remembered at Bedford House Cemetery 2½ km south of Ypres.
Richard Sutton Timmis Second Lieutenant Richard was the son of Henry and Annie Timmis who lived in Liverpool. Henry was a soapmaker. The family lived at Homeleigh, Little Woolton, Widnes. On the census of 1901 Richard is listed at the end of the enumeration list - after the servants. Richard attended Eton, leaving in 1914 then attending Sandhurst R.M.C. Richard died of wounds on 10 May 1915 aged 19 and is remembered at Bailleul Communal Cemetery on the St,Omer/Lille road. He rests along side 600 other officers and men.
