Chantry Chapel, Wakefield Bridge

On the Chantry side of the bridge are the original medieval arches of the bridge. The Chantry and the bridge were locked together by the original masons. When the road needed widening to allow trams to cross to and from Wakefield - there was only one solution and that was to demolish King's Mill and widen the road from the other side. If you look at the bridge arches on the other side they are not pointed but rounded. The Chantry Chapel of St Mary is a Grade A listed building
